How Element Matchups Work
Each Aniimo has one or two element types. When attacking with a move that matches your type advantage, you deal ×1.6 damage — a significant boost that makes type knowledge essential for every fight.
When attacking into a resisted type, your damage drops to ×0.625. This penalty is harsh enough that switching to a better-type creature is almost always the right call over brute-forcing a bad matchup.
Neutral matchups deal ×1.0 damage. Dual-type creatures can have combined strengths and weaknesses, making them more versatile but also more exposed to specific counters.
Key Matchups to Memorize
Fire beats Grass and Ice — Fire-type attackers are strong against the two most common early-game elements. Bring a Fire creature to Grass-heavy zones like Glynsera.
Water beats Fire and Earth — Water is the safest generalist type early on, with two common weaknesses covered and strong matchups against Fire zones.
Dark beats three types — Dark is the only element super effective against three other types (Grass, Lightning, Light), making Dark creatures extremely versatile in mixed encounters.
Light only beats Wind and Dark — Light has the fewest Aniimo (only 2) and the narrowest coverage, but both Helion and Lunara are strong DPS creatures that compensate with raw damage.
Using the Chart in Team Building
For general exploration, build a team that covers at least 4–5 different offensive types. Fire, Water, Grass, and Lightning cover the most common enemies you will encounter across all zones.
For boss fights and Sanctums, tailor your team to the boss's weakness. A single super-effective attacker outperforms two neutral ones. Check the boss's type before committing your team.
