Thornblade

By Aniimo Wiki Editorial TeamPublished Last updated

Grass-type DPS and one of the two final forms of the Budsquire line. Sword Dance stacks reward you for cycling skills instead of mashing basic attacks.

The swords made from thorny stems are drawn only when it's time to protect their pack against enemies.

Habitat

How It Works

Thornblade is one of the two Gamma forms the Budsquire line branches into — the other is Melloblum — and one of the highest-attack Grass creatures on the roster at 121 ATK. Its Sword Dance trait gives one stack every time you use a skill, up to four stacks for 15 seconds; each basic attack then spends a stack for 180% extra damage. Thorny Impact and Thorny Defense are its 57 and 75 power mainstays, while Thorny Rain chips groups for 30 and Elegant Waltz finishes for 172.

Strategy

  • •Cycle three or four skills before you ever press basic attack — Sword Dance only pays out if you spend the stacks deliberately.
  • •Thorny Defense doubles as your opener into dangerous packs: 75 power plus defense, and it is another Sword Dance stack.
  • •Thorny Impact and its element variants share the same 57 power frame, so pick the variant that matches the enemy's weakness.

Tips

The whole Budsquire family — Budsquire, Thornblade and Melloblum — stays Grass, so a single Grass damage investment carries every form.

Elegant Waltz at 172 power is your burst window — fire it right after a four-stack Sword Dance setup so the basic attacks that follow also crit hard.
